Sokxay Somchayneuk is a self-made entrepreneur and the founder of what is now Sokxay Group. He began with humble roots in the trading sector, becoming a key distributor for several well-known consumer brands.

With vision and determination, he steadily expanded his business into a wide range of industries, including lottery, insurance, microfinance, logistics, and most recently, fund management through Abacus Capital, where he serves as Executive Chairman.

Today, Sokxay’s steady leadership and entrepreneurial spirit continue to drive the group’s growth. He is a strong believer in long-term value, disciplined execution, and building businesses that make a lasting impact.

Phanhpakit Onphanhdala brings a wealth of experience across both the public and private sectors. He previously served as a professor at the National University of Laos and held the position of Independent Director at EDL Public Company Limited.

Currently, he is the Vice President of Sokxay Group, where he oversees strategic development across the group’s diverse subsidiaries. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Phanhpakit remains actively engaged in academia as a researcher, focusing on economics and policy-related topics.

His blend of academic rigor and real-world business insight makes him a valuable contributor to both thought leadership and corporate strategy.

Zi Hao brings deep expertise in investment management, with notable experience from his time at Bonsai Partners, where he played a key role in growing the fund’s assets under management from $30 million to $120 million. A disciplined and thoughtful investor, Zi Hao identifies as a Value Investor, focusing on long-term fundamentals and intrinsic value to guide his decisions.

Dr. Piya is the founder of Vongpith Consulting, a firm recognized for its strong track record in advising top-tier local and international companies. Under his leadership, the firm has delivered a wide range of high-impact advisory services, including feasibility studies, data collection, project implementation, and economic research.

In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Piya is also a professor at the National University of Laos, where he continues to contribute to academic research and the development of future professionals in the field.

His combined experience in both academia and industry positions him as a respected expert in economic advisory and development strategy.

Chief Executive Officer / Founder

Before co-founding Abacus Capital, Thanom gained experience across multiple industries in the private sector—starting his career in audit at KPMG Laos, and later joining the asset management team at KB Kolao Leasing.

He then returned to his family businesses, where he led operational improvements across several ventures, significantly increasing profitability. Thanom also played a key role in attracting real estate investors to develop projects on the family’s prime land holdings in Laos. He later spearheaded the development of Eightvanguard, the family’s Singapore-based holding company, which serves as a platform for diversifying the family’s assets internationally.

Thanom co-founded Abacus Capital with a clear mission: to back ambitious, growth-driven entrepreneurs—whether they're building something new or leading the next generation of a family business. He believes in partnering with founders who are deeply committed to building enduring, high-quality businesses.

Chief Investment Officer / Founder

Before co-founding Abacus Capital, Atsada gained valuable international experience in the United States. He began his career at Hasbro in internal audit, and later joined GMO LLC, a global investment management firm, as an equity research analyst. These roles gave him a strong foundation in financial analysis, corporate governance, and investment strategy.

After returning to Laos, Atsada joined his family business, Kiensantisouk Garment Factory, where he led a major operational transformation—introducing data-driven systems and streamlining processes for greater efficiency. He also helped expand the business by securing international clients, diversifying the company’s order base beyond the local market.

With experience in both developed and emerging markets, Atsada brings a global perspective, operational expertise, and a hands-on mindset to identifying and scaling high-potential businesses at Abacus Capital.

Chief Financial Officer

Before joining Abacus Capital, Niranda built a diverse background in accounting, finance, and business development across both Europe and Southeast Asia.

He began his career in France, working as an accountant at Olympique Lyonnais (FC). He later joined LUMAPPS, a software development company, where he worked closely with the CFO and CEO to implement Oracle NetSuite for internal financial reporting and operations.

After returning to Laos, Niranda joined EY as a Senior Auditor and Advisor, where he focused on advising commercial banks on IFRS implementation and financial reporting standards.

Most recently, he was part of the business development team at AIDC, where he was responsible for identifying new growth opportunities, conducting feasibility studies, and building detailed financial models to support investment decisions.

Niranda brings strong cross-functional expertise and analytical depth to the Abacus Capital team, with a practical understanding of both finance and strategy across international and local markets.
